New Ponycraft - READ THIS NOW

Hello everyone.

First, let me just say, I was amazed and utterly astonished to log back on here and find so many forum responses. Thank you all so much for your support. I promise to do my best to make sure that what needs to happen happens. Now, to business.

This will be the 4th generation of Ponycraft. All of the previous admins have done the best they could to make sure that Ponycraft was a fun, safe place to be. While our latest admins had a good run and did the best they could though, eventually Ponycraft fell again. Learning from their mistakes and hoping for a better Ponycraft, my plan is that Ponycraft truly become a community run server. This means that the community will elect staff members (as long as they meet certain expectations that will be outlined at a later time. I don't want some complete noob running Ponycraft), be able to propose new server policy, and be more direct influences on the server as a whole. After all, we appreciate something we've worked on personally more then something that was done for us. Yes, this will make running the server a little more taxing for staff, but this ought to help weed out ponies just wanting to be staff without really helping anyway.

SO:

I. It has been proposed that "Cra2yPony" be given charge of technical operations for Ponycraft, along with "Luke" (formerly known as "Heart_Tips"). The reasons go as follows:

Cra2yPony has offered us server and website hosting. He seems to have a good knowledge of things, and the specs he offers would make for a good server.

Heart Tips is a studying computer programmer who knows his stuff. Before Ponycraft "fell" earlier today, Heart Tips was working with Bukkit dev and Ponycraft player, "Gunther" to create a Ponycraft "testbed". Included with his position are all of Ponycrafts old mods, the knowledge to use and customize them, and a dedicated background engineer.

II. It has been proposed that "Eris" (formerly known as "Discord") been given charge over the list of users and names taken. The reasons go as follows:

Eris already has a template for this that he created a while back containing all of MLP's characters and background characters. He has proven himself adept at managing this list and keeping track of those on it.

III. It has been proposed that Yukikitsune (formerly known as Octavia), be put in charge of helping with website design. Reasons for this go as follows:

Yuki has done this sort of thing before, and quite frankly, there are few players as trusted and loved as him for his long period of service to the server in the past.

NOTE ON THE PREVIOUS PROPOSITIONS: We have not yet voted on a staff, these are merely people that are capable and well suited to take up the tasks necessary to simply RUN the server.

IV. It has been suggested by some users that we change the name of our server from Ponycraft to something else. This will be dealt with at a later time. I will be in contact with Lobe to discuss his blessing on the use of this name. Currently however, Lobe is retaining both the previous sites domain name and his blessing that we continue to call this server Ponycraft because all of the previous generations of our beloved server have failed, and he (along with several other users), feel that we should decide on a different name for the sake of ridding ourselves of Ponycrafts past. Should it happen that he refuses to give his blessing that we use the name "Ponycraft", a vote will be held to determine whether or not we use the name anyway. I sincerely hope it doesn't reach this point though and that we're able to get his blessing though, because this debate has the potential to tear our community in two. More will be discussed on this at a later time.

V. Names previously held on Ponycraft are on hold until a later time. If you held a canon name in the past though, be at peace. When the time comes to decide on canon names, you will be at the top of the list for that name (whether or not you get it will be dependent on the community and elected staff, but if you did a good job I don't see why you shouldn't regain your title).

VI. Now, it's time for YOU the COMMUNITY to decide who takes charge of our server. Please nominate 1-5 people that you would like to see as admins of our server in the comments. An official poll will be taken later.

Concerning me and my stepping into play with this servers forums: I am simply here to get this server moving again. If I am not voted for as a server admin by the community, then I will step down and give my admin account to the rightly appointed administrators. If I am voted for though, I will continue to do my best to make sure that this server survives. I am among the oldest playing members and I've seen it fall three times now. I don't want that to happen again.

TL;DR (Part VI): Nominate oldfoals for admin (only admins are being voted on at this time), and I'm NOT going to auto admin or auto owner myself because I'm running the forum right now (otherwise I'd be breaking my own rule of "let the community vote" ). If I'm not picked, then I'll step down and give up control to the new admins.

NOTE: Admins will be able to turn down community vote by a majority vote on their part.

I can back up each Admin suggestion, and this I say without question. Also, if the time should arise, keeping the name "Ponycraft" is another thing I'd advise. We are Ponycraft, with or without the name, and is something we should be proud to proclaim!

I really like that list of admins, plus we can change it at a later date if something happens and one of them has to leave or declines the responsibility.

Hey ponies,
First of all, if you were or were not on skype last night, you probably know that I raged at at Eris last night for being a pessimist. I want to give a huge sorry for doing that. He's not a pessimist, he was just stating the facts. I was extremely sad and selfish about the server going down... My attitude at the time was "I didn't get to prove my worth to the server!". I'm really sorry for that.
Anyhow, back on the subject, I agree with this. This is going to be amazing.
