I believe that making bits is a waste of a resource better given to our queen. Also we Changeling don't use an economy system, for everything we need there is a caste of Drones to supply it in one way or another.

We are naturally able to change our forms, no magic required. The horn are there so we can use magic so to reduce detection while being Unicorns. Think about it: A unicorn that can't do any magic is uncommon and quite noticeable.
